New Showing: Wicked in Charlotte, Wicked Charlotte

The much-anticipated musical “Wicked,” beginning its four-week run Wednesday at Charlotte’s Ovens Auditorium, makes it clear that Dorothy shedding in on Munchkinland isn’t even half the story.

Instead of monitoring Dorothy’s journey to look the Wizard, “Wicked” tells the story of how two women – one with emerald inexperienced skin, the opposite beautiful, bold and popular – develop to transform the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

Everyone Should See Wicked Atleast Once

Everyone should see “Wicked” once. That’s partially as it has become a touchstone for younger women who feel powerless or misunderstood, and partly as a result of it is the Incredible Hulk of musicals: loud, nearly by no means still, seldom subtle, irresistibly robust and very, very green.

I have now noticed it twice, and that’s when seams start to show. Winnie Holzman’s guide turns out extra clunky, with undeveloped helping characters behaving in ill-defined ways. The half-dozen anthems in Stephen Schwartz’s score — numbers where singers tip again their heads, point their hands at the sky and belt — strike the ear like hammers, although so much are rousingly effective. (The rating has one hauntingly beautiful song, “I’m Not That Girl,” which he’s smart sufficient to reprise.)

Gestures that were large on the first nationwide tour are now BIG on the second. Giggling has turn out to be whinnying in spots, and those that had been at all times Evil at the moment are Eeeeeevil, as if Austin Powers were visiting Oz. Perhaps the trustworthy audience (and “Wicked” undoubtedly has one) wishes more stimulation to succeed in the similar degree of pride as before.

Welcome to Tickets to Wicked

Welcome to Tickets to Wicked. We are huge fans of the brand new musical staring the wonderful and evil witches of the classic movie and novel ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ This Broadway and West End musical has songs written by stephen schwarts and is based on the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. If you have not seen this play, it is a must.

What we will be doing is this: We will be reviewing all of the performances that we will attend and at the same time be diligently searching for the absolute best prices on tickets to this broadway musical that will be a classic. Growing up on The Wizard of Oz, I feel as though I must contribute to this wonderful musical by helping as many as I can appreciate this incredible play.

We love this play and hope that all will appreciate it.
